Human face is the innocent
misbegotten child
of the ego and freedom upstairs
Looking beautiful is a mask worn-
a mask that commands inquiry
for its inherent mystery
And
for centuries
ugliness has been stripping off
what looks beautiful
to see
if it too is ugly within,
but what it has discovered is
fear
Ugliness wants to spread itself
Beauty wants to contain itself
